The Sierra Northern Railroad (AAR SERA) originates from the Sacramento
Northern Railway the Northern Electric Railway, the Sierra Railroad,
Western Pacific Railroad, and Yolo Shortline Railroad. It operates the
"Sierra Railroad Dinner Train" at Jamestown, California,
USA; the "Skunk Train" over the former California Western
Railroad and the "Sacramento Rivertrain" over the former
Yolo Shortline Railroad at Woodland, CA. In August of 2003, the Sierra
Railroad and the Yolo Shortline Railroad merged to form the Sierra
Northern Railroad. According to the AAR, the line operates 99 miles of
track in California. It served a number of industrial areas in the
state and interchanges with the Union Pacific Railway and the BNSF
Railway.
